Keys with E augmented

  • III+ in C♯ minor

How E augmented is built

E is the root, G♯ the major third and B♯ the augmented fifth.

An augmented chord stacks two major thirds: the root, a major third (4 half steps up) and an augmented fifth (8 half steps up). The thirds split the octave into three equal parts, so E augmented uses the same keys as A♭ augmented and C augmented.

Every chord takes every other letter of the alphabet, so the letters of E augmented are E, G, B. That is why it is spelled E, G♯ and B♯.
